Speaker: Ken Rogerson, Professor of the Practice, Sanford School of Public Policy, Duke University

Abstract: Sometimes technological development outpaces our ability to know its impacts, both positive and negative. Advances in artificial intelligence and its applications have created a world in which applied ethics is not just important, but indispensable. But how do we approach this? Complaining on soapboxes feels good but may not have the impact we would like. Ethical AI doesn’t have to be a vague idea that shows up on a social media post. There are tactics and tools that can help.

Bio: Ken Rogerson is professor of the practice in Duke University’s Sanford School of Public Policy, where teaches and researches on technology policy, information privacy, digital equity, news media and international communications. He serves on the board of the US national organization Digitunity, which works to provide computers to underserved populations.
