We invite you to the opening event of the exhibition Wu Cultural Heritage at the Margins, titled “Intermedial Representation of Suzhou Culture.” This event is sponsored by the CSCC Faculty Research and Creativity Grant. It showcases student-faculty research on how Suzhou culture is recorded, circulated, and reimagined across media. It ranges from the transmission of Suzhou dialect through printed scene anthologies in the eighteenth century to twenty-first-century oral history and sensory archival projects. The exhibition also explores the circulation of pingtan through radio and translation and considers film as a site where Suzhou gardens and architecture are repeatedly framed for both national and global audiences.
