About the masterclass

Hong Kong is at the confluence of many passages.  A Special Administration Region of China and a former British colony, it is a place where the east actively interacts with the west.  Like the rest of China, Hong Kong had also been going through a vigorous transition, reconciling long-held traditions with ever-evolving modernity.  Located on the southern edge of China, it had also been going through robust integration of its local culture with that of the mainland to its north.  Much of these interactions are captured in the films of Hong Kong, making significant contributions to the dynamic creativity that made the cinema of Hong Kong one of the most celebrated in the world.
