This event examines China-Latin America relations through multiple disciplinary lenses, including political economy, sustainability, and literature. By bringing together researchers and faculty from leading institutions across China, it aims to foster dialogue across fields. As China deepens its relations with Latin America through business and trade, understanding these ties requires examining how ideas, institutions, narratives, and lived experiences circulate between the two regions. The event situates China as a political, environmental, and cultural actor in Latin America, offering a more nuanced framework for understanding China’s role in the Global South and, in turn, contemporary China itself.
